Glamping at Gracie's

I love the one of Frasier and Paris in the doorway of the trailer! LOL! The last one is of Karen, Mig, and I huddling around the firepit. I don't have a photo of our hostess. She was probably busy preparing food; all the food was amazing!! Also I am HATING BLOGSPOT right now. I hope they see this!!

I pulled Checkered Cowgirl out of the cave this morning! I used my new hitch on a dolly and the trailer almost ran me over. Scary. A huge thank you to my neighbor, Bill, who came to my rescue. He also helped measure and then he cut the mattress topper down to fit. YAY! I have a bed! The dogs visited the trailer for the first time and I am happy to announce that Checkered Cowgirl passed inspection :-)

Good afternoon. I made a pillow last night. I absolutely love the fabric!

I hope you all have a great Easter celebration. ><>

What a busy day! First of all I went to the Department of Licensing to have Checkered Cowgirl's title changed. And it just so happened that a JoAnn's Fabric store is right around the corner. Imagine that. I got 4 different prints to make pillows.

While the fabric was being washed and dried, I loaded up the stuff that I kept in the Shasta all winter and moved it into Checkered Cowgirl. I have more stuff in the shop but I'll move that after more cleaning is done. I have too many red items, but I did find some turquoise things that I had gotten for the Shasta!

TaTa for now!

There's a "new" trailer on the property. She is a 1971 Aristocrat. Her name is Checkered Cowgirl and she moved in yesterday.

I have gotten quite a bit of the walls done with the first coat of primer. It's cold out there! Plus I've been sick with a cold and flu virus, so the going is slow.

Look what I scored today!

I finally got started on painting the inside of Primarily Me yesterday! Woo Hoo! It looks like the paneling is going to need 2 coats of primer. Bleh!

I thought that I'd have to pull the trailer out into the sun today so the primer would dry, but when I checked it had dried! YAY!

Hey! I'm starting to worry and wonder what the heck am I going to do with my trailer. I've had way too much time to think about it waiting for the weather to warm up so I can start painting the inside. A neighbor has offered to frame in the bed area and I think I'll take him up on the offer. Gracie's man, Gary, said he'd do the framing too, but he has enough to do keeping up with Gracie's projects! LOL! I've made a couple more pillows and have discovered that I'm not very good at it. Please do not look too closely at the following pictures!

And here are updated pictures of Frasier and Paris!

Ta Ta For Now!

OK! Here is my first sewing project in approximately 41 years.

I want to make more pillows and also learn how to make an apron. Shocking, eh?

Friday, February 3, 2012

Back in the late 60's and early 70's I was pretty handy with a sewing machine. I haven't done any sewing since. Well....yesterday Grace gave me a refresher course. I really had a great time! I have even purchased fabric to make pillows for Primarily Me, aka Ginger. I even found my husband's old 1975 Singer in the basement. However, the part that the foot attaches to is broken. I have been to 2 difference places and have come to the conclusion that it will be At Least $70 to get the machine serviced and repaired. Sew.....today I went out and bought a brand new Singer Tradition sewing machine.

Bottom line is that I don't even know myself anymore :-) Camping, sewing, and thrifting? Really?

I have found some really cute things for Primarily Me the past few days. I'm not ready to take and post pictures so that will have to wait :-) I will share that one of the things is a paint by number picture. It is for an intermediate painter, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it.

The HUGE news is that I am going to Sister Grace's house tomorrow for a refresher lesson on using the sewing machine. No....Sister Grace is not a nun. LOL! I have my fabric, thread, and sewing machine ready to go!

Since I have decided on primary (and secondary) colors for the trailer, I sure am having an easier time of shopping! Here are some things I got recently for 'Ginger'.

Isn't this the cutest chicken you have ever seen? Just look at the eye shadow and eye lashes!

And I couldn't pass up these perfect wine glasses!

Since I'm learning how to cook, this vintage apron seemed appropriate too :-)

I found this small afghan and couldn't pass it up!

During the camping trip with Sisters On The Fly in October 2011, a bunch of the ladies went "junking" on Saturday, i.e. they searched the town for vintage treasures for their trailers. (That seemed strange to me since we were camping!) My goodness, I couldn't believe the stuff they found. Grace gave me a small whitewashed storage box thing that she found for my trailer. I was going to hang it 'as is'. Ohhhh Noooooooo. That isn't acceptable with Grace. She told me that I needed to fix it up. *sigh* I did not take a before photo. However, here is an after photo.

The Primarily Me comes from me deciding to decorate my trailer in primary and secondary colors. (I may even add other bright colors!) My sweet neighbor, Jo, was a huge instigator in the name and the decorating of the box. She is a retired art and shop instructor at Spokane Falls Community College and has been 'junking' for decades! Thank you Jo!!

Here is Primarily Me, aka Ginger! We were 'yard camping'! The dogs thought they were on a fantastic vacation :-)

This is from our first camping trip October 14-16, 2011. It was a blast! I met lots of very fun ladies!

Obviously, I have not updated my blog in over a year. My life has been morphing into a real life that includes my dogs, but also involves many other interests. By reading the older posts, you will see that I attempted camping the summer of 2010. I loved it! The dogs loved it! BUT, the tent was too much work for me and I hated sleeping on an air mattress. Also, Frasier was thriving in agility training. I do not have the temperament or the perfection gene, so we never would have been able to compete, but Frasier loved agility and it was great exercise for me. The bad news is that in the spring of 2011, Frasier suffered two bouts of symptoms of a neck injury. To this day I do not know what happened. He was in horrible pain. Because of the neck issues, agility was dropped. So......in August 2011 I bought a beautiful 1966 Shasta 10 ft trailer. Other than yard camping,I was able to get in a 3-day local camping trip in mid October. I went to Riverside State Park, Bowl and Pitcher, right here in Spokane. It was perfect for a first-time camping trip with the trailer. I went with a group of about 15 women, each with her own vintage trailer. I'll attempt to post pictures of my trailer, but not tonight!

My current and on-going project is redoing the inside of my trailer. I took out the couch across the back that also pulled out into a bed. The bunk bed was also removed. When the weather warms up, I will be attempting to put in framework for a decent bed! YAY! Then I'll paint the inside. I still can't decide on a color for the outside so that will have to wait.

I joined Sisters On The Fly yesterday. To learn more about that group, please visit their website at www.sistersonthefly.com. I also LOVE the "Girl Camping" site on Facebook.

So, I hope to be back soon!
